Today I have never been prouder to be Canadian. Apparently, Canada has the highest per capita incidence of unauthorized file swapping in the world. We are a nation of pirates.
Some of the blame can be with our lack of standards and enforcement. But I also partially put the blame on unnecessary internet filters (HULU!) and a lack of access to some major US cable networks. If I want to watch the Closer, I have to download it illegally because I don’t have TNT (those NBA playoff ads are getting to me!). Same thing if I miss an episode of 30 Rock on NBC. Don’t suggest I should have to buy it on iTunes, that is racist (since I SHOULD be able to get it for free on Hulu).
The rest of the world, especially the US, needs to look in the mirror for Canada’s internet theft. We had no choice. You made us do it. Besides, the world needs an English speaking country to be uploading millions of media files to share with everyone in the easiest way possible. That is why we were exist. We are America’s bad younger brother, always up to no good, smoking pot and swapping files illegally. Oh Canada indeed.
