Mike Vick got out of prison this morning and now he is basically on house arrest.  He is allowed to leave his home to go to his $10/hour construction job and for a few other daily functions, but he is no longer in the slammer.  Vick seems to be saying and doing the right things to start to rehabilitate his image so he can get back to doing what he does best - frustrating coaches (his own and opposing) with his immense talent to play football.
I hope he can get back in the NFL this season.  I do not condone what he did but he paid his debt to society, lost millions of dollars and presumably learned his lesson.  I was reading Peter King, noted NFL shill, the other day, and he was saying that Vick should be suspended for the first 4 games of the season because he lied to various people in the league about his dogfighting.  I cannot fathom the purpose of this.  I am firmly of the belief that the punishment he has received thus far has served its purpose and anything to punish him now would just be excessive and vengeful.  Should Brett Favre have been suspended for all the times he said he was going to retire and then didn’t? Both situations involve lying to the detriment of their teams.  Just let the man be.
Here’s to hoping he can regain some of his glory.  He’s the best football player to surface this decade.
