I never got to comment on the absolute dud that was Caps-Pens game 7. Just like in the previously mega-hyped Bulls-Celtics game 7, the game could not live up to its top billing. The Pens dominated the Caps and proved they were clearly the better team. I think it is partly due to experience and also overall depth. I maintain that Ovechkin is superior to Crosby.
Last night featured 2 more NHL game 7s. The Wings came up in the clutch versus the Ducks and noted sucker puncher Scott Walker proved that there is no such thing as karma as he netted the winner in OT to send the Canes past the Bruins. I have no opinion about any of this really. Detroit will probably win the Cup and that will be that. I guess the city could use the morale boost.
The NBA will be offering up 2 more game 7s of their own on Sunday, with Rockets @ Lakers and Magic @ Celtics. I am cheering for the upset (see: road teams) in both series but am highly dubious that either will happen. The Lakers are one of the most sickening teams I have ever watched. After being exposed as softies who can’t bring it every night in last year’s Finals, they have been taken to the brink by a team without it’s 2 best players (although i would argue Artest is better than McGrady at this point). That is inexcusable. Real championship teams handle their biz. That’s why the Lakers are pretenders. It’s Lebron’s world; everyone else is just living in it.
